We had agreed to meet up in front of the Sacramento Capitol building for their engagement session. Having never met each other in person prior to this, we were still able to spot Erica and Alen from 20 feet away. When Miguel and I saw them, our jaws dropped! They were dressed to absolute perfection for their photo shoot!

Erica’s first comment to us was that she never wears dresses as fancy as this one. We reassured her, she looked FABULOUS! Getting to dress up in ball gowns and suits isn’t normal for most people, but your engagement session is such a special occasion, why not document this special season of life the fancy way?

Erica & Alen met approximately 4 years ago, the way they described it to us, it sounded like it was fate that the two met on the night that they did. Erica’s friends invited her out to a bar on a Friday night, but she was hesitant to go because of how exhausted she was from going out the night before! Alen already had plans to hang out with his friends, but the plans had changed last minute, he too considered just staying in. But fate must’ve been pulling at their heart strings that afternoon, because the two of them ended up at the exact same bar.

They spotted each other from across the bar. Erica remembers making eye contact with Alen, she air-cheered him with her glass and the rest was history. They both mentioned to us how thankful they were that they decided to go out that night, 3 years ago.

Hanging out with these two, you can just see the love and excitement that they have for getting to marry each other in a few weeks. At one point I told Alen to whisper his favorite thing about his fiancée into her ear, we’re pretty sure he whispered his 10 favorite things because she couldn’t stop smiling! Seeing those smiles and giggles, even though we’re standing literally 5 feet in front of them, makes us feel lucky to get to work with couples like these two!

Erica & Alen, we are so thankful that you two have chosen us to be your photographers! We’ll see you both at your Silver Creek Valley Country Club wedding in a few weeks! We’ll be the couple with the cameras in our hands 😉
