“The 17 mile drive is closed this weekend for Pebble Beach Pro-Am,” that’s what the gate security told us as I was reaching into my purse to pay the entrance fee. Isabel and Rene had chosen a beach along the Central Coast for their engagement session location. Luckily, Miguel and I arrived a couple of hours early to scout the beach and get an idea of how we could make this shoot perfect for our clients. Because of this, we had time to come up with a plan B.

We got on the phone with Isabel and Rene and let them know the bad news, from there we decide to go to Point Lobos (a location special to Isabel) and Marina Sand Dunes (a location that Miguel and I enjoy going to).

One thing I really love about these two, is how easy going they both are! They trusted us to help decide on a new location last minute and made the absolute best out of a bad news situation! Throughout the entire session I truly felt like we were just hanging out with old friends.

A little fun fact about this couple: we met them at another wedding! Isabel and I first met in 2015, when I was photographing our very first #ericaverniswedding. We “re-met” Isabel and met Rene again last year when I had the opportunity to photograph her sister, Alex’s, wedding! Miguel and I continued to see her and Rene many more times after that, and we were honored when they asked if we would document their wedding day as they’ve watched us do for so many of their family members.

Isabel and Rene, we may not get to celebrate your love for one another this summer as we initially thought we would, but we are excited to get to celebrate alongside you next year for sure! If there’s anything I’ve learned about you two, it’s that you can turn any negative into a positive. With another extra year of planning, I know you guys will make an already beautiful wedding day, even more special! Cannot wait to see it all come together 🙂
