Our drive up to our first Redding engagement session was quite calm, no traffic and a warm, sunny day, we couldn’t complain! Being that spring is showing up early this year, we were blessed with a picturesque drive: many miles filled with almond orchards along Highway 5. The light pink blooms were a wonderful sight on what could have been an otherwise boring 3 hour drive. (Thank you almond blossom season!)

Holly and Kevin wanted to capture this exciting time in the city they reside in. Redding, CA is the city that they get to call their first home as an engaged, and soon-to-be, married couple. A year and a half ago, when they received the keys to their home, they stood on their front lawn admiring what would be part of their new chapter. To Holly’s surprise, Kevin dropped down to one knee and held a ring out to his soon-to-be fiancée. They moved in to their new home as a newly engaged couple!

Now, while all of my couples are important to me, this engagement session was quite special for a different reason. I have known Holly since our tween days at O’Hara Park middle school! She knew me back when I had braces and frizzy hair, and well, Holly has always been perfect, and that part about her hasn’t changed! It was as if there hadn’t been a 10 year gap between seeing one another. Then again, Holly was always a kind and easy going person to be around, so it made sense that I’d feel comfortable chatting with her once again!

Holly & Kevin, thank you for showing us around your new home and neighborhood, and especially for dinner! My first time making pizzas at home, and now you’ve got me putting pizza dough and toppings on my grocery list! Miguel and I had a great afternoon with you two, and cannot wait to celebrate you two in a couple of weeks. Your wedding at The Chabot Space & Science Center on Pi Day (of all days), is going to be incredible! We’re really looking forward to seeing it all come together for you two!
